ABOUT MAiS
MAiS is a collaborative project initiated in 2025 between designers Molly Younger, Flavia Amadeu, and a community of female rubber tapper artisans, Flores da Seringueira in Mato Grosso, Legal Amazon, Brazil.
MAiS (more, much Portuguese) reflects the project’s ethos of collaboration, union, and continuous research for new modes of expression using Amazonian natural latex.
The women of Flores da Seringueira (Flowers of the Rubber Tree) are part of COOPSOB, the Cooperative of Rubber Producers in Mato Grosso. Historically, these women worked alongside their husbands as rubber tappers, but remained anonymous and unrecognised, since only men were considered official members of the cooperative. Through a series of workshops led by Flavia Amadeu in 2022-2023, the women transformed their expectations of natural latex, from an industrial commodity to an expressive material. Molly Younger joined in 2025, leading to the foundation of MAiS.
